Profile: Her journey into wildlife conservation began with birding in the urban wetlands of Chennai, where a growing curiosity about birds and their habitats gradually turned into a deeper interest in wildlife and conservation. This interest shaped many of the choices she made, leading her to work with organisations such as The Tree Foundation, Madras Naturalist Society, and Palluyir Trust for Nature Education and Research. Nature education has always been an important part of her work. She enjoys teaching, especially when it involves helping children and the public appreciate the nature around them.
Her Master’s broadened her perspective through systems thinking and conservation leadership. Her interests also grew towards science communication and making research and data accessible to wider audiences. She believes that knowledge matters when it can help people understand an issue and feel empowered to act. This interest led her to explore communication systems and their effectiveness in ecotourism at Kurusadai Island in the Gulf of Mannar. Her work brings together wildlife conservation, teaching and communication.
