Profile: Ram is a dedicated GIS professional with over nine years of experience in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems. He holds a Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Remote Sensing and GIS from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal (2015), where his interest in spatial technologies and landscape dynamics began. He started his career in academia as an Assistant Professor, mentoring students in various GIS-based research projects.
For over two and a half years, Ram worked as a freelance GIS specialist, contributing to conservation and ecological planning projects. A key project involved the development of Eco-Sensitive Zone (ESZ) maps, where he carried out advanced spatial analysis, integrated field data, and produced comprehensive geospatial reports to support decision-making in protected area management.
At first, he joined Dakshin Foundation as a GIS Consultant, supporting the mapping of blue carbon ecosystems along India’s coastline. Drawn by a growing interest in coastal conservation and the potential of geospatial tools to support ecological research, he transitioned into a full-time role in April 2025 under the Conservation Crossroads programme. His current work includes mapping and spatial analysis of blue carbon habitats, developing and maintaining spatial databases, and producing high-quality maps and visualizations for reports.
Ram is deeply motivated by the potential of spatial technologies to bridge science, policy, and local knowledge, and remains committed to using GIS as a tool for sustainable, community-based environmental planning.
