Nandita Gattani

Programme Assistant

Qualifications: Bachelor of Business Administration, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai (2021).

Email: nandita@dakshin.org

Profile: Originally from the city of Katni, near the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, Nandita began her professional journey at a plant-based company before a profound shift in her life’s direction. Her first diving experience became a turning point, sparking a deep fascination with marine ecosystems and their global interconnections.

This newfound passion and curiosity led her to pursue marine education further, eventually becoming certified as a Rescue Diver. Through an internship under the LTEO programme at Dakshin Foundation, Nandita gained valuable experience in SCUBA-based surveys and developed fresh perspectives on marine and coastal ecosystems. She is committed to expanding the data available on India’s marine environments.

Having personally experienced how marine education transformed her understanding of oceans and climate change, Nandita is also dedicated to advancing ocean literacy initiatives, hoping to inspire others to develop a similar appreciation for – and concern about – these vital ecosystems.

Nandita is currently involved in the Ocean Literacy programme in the Andaman Islands and in coral reef monitoring under the Long-Term Ecological Observatories initiative, as part of the Marine Flagships Programme.
