Profile: Hailing from the small island of Panavally, situated in the picturesque backwaters of Kerala, Mariam has been deeply influenced by her surroundings and community from a young age. This upbringing, combined with her deep-rooted passion for sports, has been a defining influence throughout her life. From playing football in the park with her brother and his friends, representing her school in athletics, to leading her college football team to the podium, Mariam has made several cherished memories and meaningful connections through sports. The values she has acquired and the experiences she has gained on the field are treasures she holds dear, shaping her beliefs and guiding her actions.

Driven by this passion, Mariam is committed to harnessing the power of sports as a tool for social change. As part of the Sports and Community Wellbeing Programme at Dakshin, she is eager to make sports accessible to all, providing opportunities and spaces for individuals to express themselves, fully recognising its ability to create lasting positive impacts.
