Kalka Nagamma

Nagamma worked as a child tutor before joining Dakshin. She learned about Dakshin’s work and the opportunity to engage with fisherfolk through a community leader. This led to her acceptance into the Coastal Grassroots Fellowship, where she gained new skills and knowledge related to community mobilisation and awareness. Nagamma is now actively involved in health interventions focused on mental health, adolescent health, and non-communicable diseases. She achieves a comprehensive impact by working with youth, children, community health workers, and Anganwadi workers, and by organising community gatherings to address important issues and livelihood crises in the village. In her free time, Nagamma enjoys reading books, singing, and listening to spiritual music. She is fluent in Hindi, Odia, and Telugu.
