Profile: Kailas was born and raised in the serene town of Wayanad, nestled in the Western Ghats of Kerala. His journey in environmental science and disaster management led him to intern with organisations such as the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, the District Disaster Management Authority, and Humane Society International. One of his key projects involved researching landslide risk reduction in Wayanad, where he applied geospatial tools to inform better policy-making.
Kailas has participated in national and international seminars, and his knowledge in GIS tools like ArcGIS, Google Earth, and QGIS is complemented by his dedication to sustainable development. He is passionate about finding innovative solutions for environmental challenges and fostering outreach in vulnerable communities. Outside of his professional endeavours, Kailas enjoys immersing himself in nature and supporting initiatives that empower local communities. At Dakshin, he is working with the SeaChange Andamans team to understand and intervene to solve the systemic issues of the islands.
