Hafeera BK

Hafeera hails from Pallesssery village on Minicoy Island in Lakshadweep. She began her career as a needlecraft teacher at a senior basic school on her island. Later, she worked with the Department of Environment and Forests in Lakshadweep as a waste auditor for their solid waste management programme. Before joining Dakshin, she served as a field assistant with the Department of Science and Technology on the island conservation project. Hafeera’s continuous engagement with the people of Minicoy Island provided her with many insights into the community and a wide network among the fishers. She is currently coordinating Dakshin Foundation’s community-based fisheries monitoring efforts in Minicoy and facilitating Dakshin’s research and co-management initiatives on her native island. She loves exploring new places and capturing selfies. Outside of work, she enjoys dancing and sewing.
