Profile: Amber D’Souza is a marine ecologist and ecological data analyst with a strong interest in ocean health, biodiversity, and the communities that depend on coastal ecosystems. She holds a BSc from St. Joseph’s University, Bangalore, and an MSc in Marine Sciences from Utrecht University, bringing both scientific rigour and an interdisciplinary perspective to her work.

Currently a Senior Project Assistant at the Dakshin Foundation, Amber works at the intersection of marine ecology, biodiversity metrics, and community-centred conservation. Her technical skills span Python, R, and interactive data visualisations, which she uses to translate complex ecological data into accessible, actionable insights for researchers and practitioners alike.

Her broader goals in marine conservation centre on understanding how ecosystems and the people within them can be supported together, with a focus on sustainable fisheries, coastal resilience, and reducing the pressures of overexploitation on marine biodiversity.
